Rainbow stories
I was so delighted to find these wonderful images in “Dream Homes: 100 Inspirational Interiors”. It is very refreshing to see that some people are not scared of using colour!
Every single colour of the colour wheel (as well as black and white) are used in this dining room – and no, I’m not exaggerating! Red (the glasses and plates), pink (the walls and flowers), orange (fruit), yellow (ah no yellow), green (the glasses), blue (the chairs), violet (the door). The trick here is that they are all in a muted, pastel version so they don’t clash and fight each other for attention and, in fact, the white table serves to bring them all together.
I bet none of you have seen fuchsia pink floorboards and yellow doors & windows… I certainly haven’t – if someone had described this scheme to me, I would have immediately said that it would look ridiculous, but it doesn’t look at all bad really! I actually quite like it but my boyfriend wasn’t at all impressed. I wonder what you guys think? I know the colours would be impossible to live with on a daily basis, but isn’t it so pretty and doll- like?
I just had to include this picture as it is so original and the work that has gone in is just incredible! Can you imagine having to paint the walls in so many coloured stripes? And even the chair seat has been painted on in stripes. But the most successful part and the one that you can easily replicate at home is the chest of drawers. The flower handle idea and painted leaves is genius and I love the green colour they’ve used. I think it must be something like Peppermint Beach or Crushed Pine by Dulux.
