A sad day – The Pier in administration
I know they’re technically a competitor, but I was really saddened to hear that the Pier went into administration this morning, as they were my main inspiration when I formed Coco Målé a couple of years ago…
And unlike mfi and woolies (sorry guys but I wasn’t a big fan), I think the Pier will truly be missed by everyone. Its huge selection of home accessories is second to none and all its shops have such a great atmosphere, you immediately get transported to another world.
I’ve spent all morning trying to understand what went wrong, and without actually seeing the numbers, it’s impossible to tell. But I hope it’s because of the tough economic environment out there and not because customers are moving away from Eastern- inspired interiors… that would be a great shame and also quite worrying for us!
Anyway, as a tribute to a great shop, here are some of their classics and rest assured, that here at Coco Målé, we will do our best to fill the gap left by them…

I’m impressed, I need to say. Really hardly ever do I encounter a blog that’s both educative and entertaining, and let me inform you, you might have hit the nail on the head. Your concept is outstanding; the difficulty is one thing that not enough individuals are talking intelligently about. Hello, I think your site might be having browser compatibility issues. When I look at your blog in Chrome, it looks fine but when opening in Internet Explorer, it has some overlapping. I just wanted to give you a quick heads up! Other then that, awesome blog!
