Cake stands (or pedestal servers as they seem to call them in the US!!) are all the rage lately… don’t know if it’s my newest craze for cupcakes or just that I’m getting older, but I’m also very smitten with them these days! Here are Real Simple’s favourite ones and my marks for them out of 10.

1. Great White Cake Stand from Pottery Barn ($30).

Definitely an 8/10. Simple, elegant, classy and won’t date.

2. La Patisserie Footed Bowls by Rosanna ($39 – $65).

2/10. I really don’t like this one – the different levels look mismatched and the bowl- shape instead of a shallow plate hides all the yummy things inside instead of displaying them.

3. Le Gateau Pedestals by Rosanna ($45 – $65), 4. White Pedestals by Rosanna ($30 – $55).

4/10 – nice enough but they look a bit plasticky and unstable to me…

5. Ruffled Pedestals from Crate & Barrel ($19.95 – $19.95)

5/10 again, nice enough, but nothing special.

6. Martha Stewart Whiteware Cake Stands (SALE: $14.99- $29.99 / Reg $22 – $42)

8/10 very elegant and minimalistic. Trust Martha Stewart not to disappoint!

7. CHEFS Whites – Pedestal Bowl ($19.99)

1/10 huh??? does this even qualify as a cake stand? It looks more like a fruit bowl…

8. Emma Cake Stand from Pottery Barn ($38)

6/10 pretty and simple.

I personally wouldn’t have chosen any of the above for my top 8 (except maybe the first one), so here are my favourites!!!
