The previous blog about screens got me thinking about other pieces of furniture which could double as a feature in a room. A rocking chair would be perfect for filling that awkward corner! Avoid clutter and select a few statement pieces carefully to add interest.
The first rocking chair dates back to the mid 1700′s and is a design still popular today. Apart from being ideal to rock a child gently off to sleep, the rocking motion can be very soothing after a long, hard day at work.
According to Wikipedia, rocking chairs are comfortable because ‘when a user sits in one without rocking, the chair automatically rocks backwards until the sitter’s center of gravity is met, thus granting an ergonomic benefit with the occupant kept at a very unstressed position and angle’. Sounds ideal to me!
