Gorgeous stone house in Croatia

July 23rd, 2009

Croatia is one of those places I’ve been meaning to visit for years, but for some reason or other never quite made the trip… I don’t know what it is – it just doesn’t feel right to go any place but Greece in the summer (I’m such a patriot!), but seeing the pictures below, what a mistake I’ve made…

One of my best friends (she’s Croatian) is getting married there next year, so it looks like I will finally make it and I just can’t wait now!!! I would love to rent out a house like this for a week (isn’t it beautiful) and then maybe even go sailing or something?!

The stone house is part of a picturesque little compound overlooking the harbour.

In the living room, a 15th-century recessed water sink and shelf carved from stone contrasts with the modern steel fireplace hood whilst the exposed stone wall and real wood floors blend right in with the outside nature.

Situated right at the centre of the house, the dining room has its own terrace, with stunning island views on one side and a citrus court on the other.

The natural look is continued in both the master bedroom and bathroom. The “old” style stone walls, exposed ceiling beams and real wooden floors are superbly combined with modern furniture and fittings, achieving a luxurious but understated result.

The house is engulfed in rich foliage and carob, olive and lemon trees…

I’m not sure exactly where this place is – will have to ask my friend – but it’s on an island off mainland Croatia apparently…

I would like to know where this georgeous stone house is please? It is built for similar stone as the ones on an Island in Croatia where my family come from. I am going in March 2010 & would love to see it or has it been fabricated? I have travelled extensively around the Dalamatian coast & not seen anything of that quality but I have in Australia!! Is it in Croatia??? Love to know. Regards from MIRA
