Mary Katrantzou rocks the catwalk
I am fascinated by this young Greek designer’s prints. At just 26 years old, Mary Katrantzou has a very bright future ahead of her in the cuthroat world of fashion. Having left Greece in 2001, she studied Architecture in the US and soon after chose to focus upon fashion. Whilst studying at Central Saint Martins (all the best designers graduate from here… maybe if I’d attended, I’d magically be one of them?!!), she worked for Sophia Kokosalaki, developing prints for her collection.
In 2009, for autumn/winter Katrantzou had her first runway show and is now known for her fabulous prints- and quite rightly so. Her perfume-inspired prints give the illusion of a cinched-in waist and offer a fresh new look for this season. Below are a few of her designs from the show… I’m sure you’ll agree they’re fantastic!
