I have a bit of a pet hate for designer copies, I don’t think it’s fair to steal other people’s designs and ideas and contrary to popular belief, the designers themselves often struggle to break even. I’m pretty sure it’s illegal, too!
However the High Street collections understandably take inspiration from the catwalks to create their own collections. There are rules- there must be a certain number of differences between the original and the ‘copy’. I think George at Asda has done an amazing job with their interpretation of Gucci’s ikat dress, below. High Street retailers need to watch their back…. the supermarkets are inching towards the fashion front!

At £8 you really can’t go wrong! But of course you can’t expect the sheer luxury that comes with the Gucci dress.
