At home with: Renny Ramakers from Droog

Apparently, people residing in Amsterdam don’t have curtains, as they like to show that they have nothing to hide.  Fair enough but I’m not sure I’d like my neighbours seeing me in my pink pajamas- or me seeing them for that matter!

Renny Ramakers, co-founder and director of Dutch design laboratory Droog, is one of those brave enough to go without curtains.

What a tranquil living room- the gorgeous high ceilings, large windows and light floorboards all add to the spaciousness.  It must be lovely to be able to fir two large couches in the room and still have lots of space left over.  The couch/bed on the left looks divinely comfortable doesn’t it?!

The living room leads on to Denny’s office space- all open plan.  Grouping furniture and adding a rug all helps to section the areas from one another- naturally this is much easier to do when you have this much space to play with.  Seeing this makes me question why anyone would want walls!

Denny’s office extends around the back of the large bookcase (phew- I was beginning to wonder how and where she keeps all her paperwork!!).  I would love an office space like this- enough room to spread-out and plenty of storage to have all of your things right there at your fingertips.

Yet I can’t get over the whole ‘no curtains’ thing… how would you feel about this?
