Places I must visit: the Faena Hotel in Argentina
The beauty of Buenos Aires is stunning with its broad tree lined avenues, beautiful parks and opulent architecture. However to be quite honest (and no offence intended, Argentina!) if I was staying at this amazing hotel I wouldn’t be too bothered where I was!
Transformed from an old grain warehouse, the Faena Hotel is the ultimate luxury retreat…
The dining room has a slight Alice in Wonderland theme- I read somewhere that inspiration came from the Queen of Hearts. Notice the unicorn heads on the wall… a fun but subtle twist.

Rooms are predominantly white with injections of rich reds. I think the red softens the white to make the decor feel more homely. On its own, white can be quite clinical and impersonal. The balance here is just right. I love the bedside lamps stemming from the headboard- who says beds have to be placed against the wall? If you have a large room, that is!

Just gorgeous!!

Places I must visit: Marrakech, Morroco
Katie and the team have travelled a few times to Marrakech on buying trips for Coco Målé. I’ve never been but judging by the stories the team tell upon their return to the office, it sounds like a beautiful place. The architecture alone is pretty amazing and then you have all of those vibrant colours mixed-in.

Just look at this stunning Dar Les Cigognes riad I stumbled upon- a true reflection of authentic Moroccan design. I love the pistachio green walls, the dark wood, the intricate patterns and the mood lighting in the room above- perfect!

The exquisite high ceiling and calming surroundings make this spa room the most relaxing place in this boutique hotel.

The shapes seen in this room above and below are typical of Moroccan style

Did you spot Coco Målé in the June issue of Elle Decor? They featured a stunning Moroccan home!

Places I must visit: River Lodge, Inverness, Scotland
Enjoy stunning views across the River Ness at River Lodge- a contemporary, 5 star luxury retreat with all modern amenities. I’ve been in search for the Loch Ness monster before- I never spotted him!- but what I can guarantee you’ll see is scenery which is world class.
If I was to stay in the area overnight I’d be after a true Scottish experience and staying in a lodge would be perfect (especially one as luxurious as this!).

It doesn’t get better than this, does it? I could happily live here. The decor is modern, clean and fresh yet at the same time is sympathetic to the style of the building. The result? A warm, inviting place to stay, with emphasis on comfort and luxuriousness.

You can even bring your dogs- there is kennel space for two!

Places I must visit… Argentina
I love big vibrant cities, clothes shopping and quirky places and Palermo Soho in Buenos Aires, Argentina ticks all of these boxes. Correct me if I’m wrong but I’d imagine the area to be a little similar to London’s Soho or Greenwich Village in NY, full of interesting little places to visit.
Above: a typical building seen in Palermo Soho
Vain Boutique, a stunning little hotel in Palermo Soho looks like one of the homes you might see featured on Grand Designs! It’s modern, minimalist and bright and the large glass windows allow-in lots of natural light. It looks gorgeous…

I love the different floor levels

I hope the neighbours can’t see!!

The squishy headboard is what makes this room look so luxurious and inviting

Matching the cushion material with that of the chair cover adds an air of luxury and shows attention to detail. Although the decor has been kept mostly white, the wooden flooring, colourful flowers and soft mood lighting add warmth and comfort.

Places I must visit: Siófok, Hungary
Hungary, with its 400 year old Turkish monuments, 200 year old Roman ruins and Europe’s largest freshwater lake, certainly has lots to offer. Part of the joy of travelling is to experience the culture of the destination and learn about the area’s historical background. Don’t get me wrong though- I do love a good lie in the sunshine and a martini or three!!

Lake Balaton, Hungary
The Janus Atrium Boutique Hotel & Spa located in Siófok, Hungary is situated close to the beautiful lake Balaton. Now I know I’m always saying we should avoid chains and opt for independents instead but this Best Western hotel is family-owned, with individually designed rooms.

I love the Hungarian architecture and design influences in the bedrooms. The room above is my favourite because of the chandelier and the panoramic artwork- all very grandeur. The beds all look luscious- just look at the size of them!

What beautiful windows. This room has been kept simple however there is still great attention to detail, with the subtle matching of the decor to the stained glass.

Lovely drapes and headboard- true Hungarian style
