The new fashion bible

March 9th, 2010

My fashion radar must’ve been particularly strong this morning, as I felt compelled to pop into my local corner shop and browse the magazine rack.  What did I spot?  Company magazine’s brand new new bi-monthly stand-alone; High Street Edit!

Showcasing the best of high-street fashion alongside designer news, it is an absolute must-read for all you fashionistas out there.  It features news and reviews from the fashion industry, the hottest collections, on-line fashion and designer collaborations for a style savvy shopper!

Company editor Victoria White describes the magazine as “a title for women who have a real love for high fashion, but find themselves stuck between shopping weeklies and designer-only fashion magazines”.

If you only buy one magazine this season, this has to be it.  Make sure you don’t miss a thing!

Kelley Lilien, one in a million!

March 8th, 2010

I’m loving everything about Kelley Lilien; her work, her positive outlook on life, her love for all things luxurious and her great passion for design and use of strong colour.

Mrs Lilien, a sister site by Kelley Lillien, is just delightful!  The images are full of colour and ooze luxury.  The blog is a must-read… she puts together outfits, accessories and homewares and describes the type of person they would be suited for.    Not only that, the posts even rhyme!

Kelley is a graphic designer based in the US, specializing in logo design and brand identity, print communications and packaging.

Rie Elise Larsen- colour queen

March 5th, 2010

I was really excited to discover interior stylist Rie Elise Larsen- her use of colour is just fantastic.

The home accessories by Rie Elise Larsen are sure to bring a pop of colour to any home.  Everything is so pretty!  I particularly like the lamp shades.

Above: when lining shelves, ensure you choose bold prints and strong colour to avoid creating an old-fashioned look!

What a difference a bit of colour can make!

Salmon ceviche

March 4th, 2010

I just came across this delicious-looking recipe over at the Grey Matter Concept blog.  Follow Suwandi’s detailed journey as she shares learning about photography and food styling, it makes a really interesting read.

Here’s the recipe for Suwandi’s Salmon ceviche with alfalfa sprouts and white radish pickle.  Yum!

Preparation

Cut the fresh salmon into cubelets.

Prepare the base layer with quite a dense layer of alfalfa sprouts.

Place a couple of slices of radish on top of the alfalfa sprouts so that the salmon pieces can have flat base to sit on.

Add a toothpick with a piece of salmon cubelet and a radish slice into the verrine as decoration.

Finally squeeze a generous amount of lemon juice and vinegar mixture on the salmon cubelets.
