The Swedish show how it’s done

August 27th, 2010

This small Swedish flat is a great example of how to make the most of an area where space is limited.  It’s not often I can say I’d love to move-in straight away but there really isn’t anything I would want to change!!

It can be difficult to keep work and rest separate in small homes.  It’s so important to have a home office space separate from the living room furniture… even if it’s literally a desk and chair in the corner of the room.  Here, the ‘office‘ and lounge are open plan, yet the individual areas are clearly defined.  Notice how the room looks quite girly, however I’m sure this is purely because of the pink sofa.  What a difference one piece of furniture or colour can make!

White gives the illusion of space as can large windows and plenty of natural light.

Add definition with a feature wall

Love the idea of a wet room but not keen on the tiles used.  Although the striped shower curtain detracts from this

How delightful!

Twistband launches in the UK!

August 26th, 2010

A huge hit in the US, the gorgeous Twistband brand has now also arrived in the UK.  They’ve just arrived here at the Coco Målé office and we’re all so excited!

We all remember the days of the hair scrunchy. Easy to wear and they slid comfortably on your wrist between wearings. But as style evolved, scrunchies became a fashion faux pas, creating the need for a new breed of hair accessories.  Enter Twistband!

Twistbandsare ponybands and headbands made of elastic trim.  This means no tugging on hair, no headaches and no dents caused by regular elastic bands.

Wear it as a bracelet; to make a statement; or celebrate a bachelorette or birthday party with custom-printed bands… the uses are endless!

Buy online here.  You can also contact Katie for wholesale enquiries here.

Pip pip hurray!

August 25th, 2010

Pip Studio is a quirky little Dutch company which I have fallen in love with!  The home accessories are so colourful and pretty that you can’t help but love the whole range.  Quite shabby chic too, don’t you think?

The person behind Pip is Dutch product designer Catharina, who has had the nickname Pip since childhood.  What a talented lady!

Pip’s designs are inspired by ”every-day incidents that seem quite ordinary but when scrutinised more closely are, in fact, exceptionally beautiful”.

An enchanting farmhouse

August 24th, 2010

I’m not too sure what to make of this boutique hotel in Puglia, Italy.  It’s very enchanting and the cave-like interior is amazing to look at but the rough stone makes it look somehow uncomfortable!  I’d be worried about grazing my skin on the wall in the bathroom or by the pool (am I just a big softie?!!)…

Masseria Torre Coccaro is a converted farmhouse complete with modern luxury accessories to ensure a comfortable stay.  I’d imagine it to be refreshingly cool inside with the thick stone walls.

I do like the idea of leaving the stone natural, although I’m just not too sure about the bathroom!

The sitting room is fresh, light and airy…
