Heavenly Hallways

July 26th, 2010

It’s the first thing you’re presented with when entering a home and you want it to look inviting, striking and  personal.  Decorating your hallway needs lots of time and thought.  Choose home accessories which reflect your personality.  Add a pretty throw, a stunning vase  or a useful console table.  Use clever storage to create a unique look.

Keep the walls white for maximum impact.  Hexagonal storage shelving from Bloq.

The orange strip along the door edging compliments the print hanging in the hallway perfectly.

You don’t need a lot of space to make a statement!

I love these stairs but the design doesn’t seem to fit with the surroundings in this instance.  Perhaps the home is still work in progress.  Wallpaper by Orla Kiely

What do you think of this contemporary multicoloured staircase?  I like it to look at but not sure if I could actually live with it every day.  You’d definitely need to stick to a white background for this to work.

Pamper yourself

June 21st, 2010

Taking a long, relaxing bath or an invigorating shower is one of life’s daily little pleasures.  It’s a time for self indulgence and pampering.  We all lead busy lives these days, so make the most of the time you have and turn your bathroom into a mini paradise!

Vibrant yellow against soft grey works really well

I love the contrast in colour seen when these stencilled cabinets are opened

This small table is much better than a shelf full of unsightly cluttered products!

Set the mood with soft lighting.  Inject strong colour with a bright rug or towel bundle

Why didn’t I think of that?

April 5th, 2010

Sometimes the most simple ideas are the best.  Often i’ll come across an image in a magazine or on the internet and think to myself “what a great idea… why have I never thought of doing that?!”  I suppose that’s why it’s called inspiration, right?!

Who said bedrooms have to be symmetrical?  It’s too easy to stick with what is expected rather than to push the boundaries.  Don’t have matching bedside tables and lamps just because you feel you have to!  Use the floor space you have to its best advantage.

What makes this bedroom, above, different from the norm are the bedside lamps which have been suspended from the ceiling.  Nice to look at, plus it leaves more room on your bedside table!

Add interest to a wall and turn picture frames into more of a feature…

Love vintage teacups? Me too!  If you collect pretty tea sets why not have them on display for all to enjoy?

The Travel Bug

March 30th, 2010

Ok, so today’s post isn’t technically on travel, but I just had to share these images with you!  Some of the maps are actual wallpaper, some are a DIY job, but all look fantastic, don’t you agree?  Certain to give you the travel bug!!
