A Dreamy Bedroom

I am totally in love with this beautifully-styled bedroom! The gorgeous chandelier is a great focal point and is so unique… very romantic. As it is such an extravagant piece, it is important to tone-down the surrounding decor so as not to overdo it. Also, notice this room has a high ceiling so can accommodate the large fixture without the piece swamping the room.
The muted palette has an ‘earthy’ vibe, complimented by the rich mahogany floorboards. Furniture goes back to nature with the use of natural materials and finishes- minimalism is key. The sleigh bed with piles of comfy pillows looks very inviting and the dog seems to be thinking the same! I particularly like how the bed takes pride of place in this room and is facing the window rather than a television or wall.
A true haven for complete relaxation. Unfortunately I have no idea who this room was styled by so if anyone knows please let me know!

Making an Entrance!
The hallway is the first thing a person sees upon entering your home- so make a lasting impression and create a welcoming feature for your family and guests! Below are some of my favourite ideas….

cushions Laura Ashley, side table The French Bedroom Company, antique mirror James Worrall, rug Kelaty
Larger, more robust hooks can be good for holding handbags too…

storage baskets find similar at Coco Målé, hooks The Old Cinema , cushions Romo
Cover an unsightly radiator and create an attractive feature in its place. Soft lighting creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere…

accessories from Dunelm Mill
The stone flooring, below, complements the overall antique feel of this entrance. Also great for those who forget to wipe their muddy boots!

sideboard I & JL Brown, stair runner Brintons, mirror Beaumont & Fletcher

chair Robert Young Antiques, table I & JL Brown, wall rack as seen at Coco Målé
With thanks to House To Home for these delightful images

Interior Design By Mail now launched!
I’m so excited – we’ve just launched our new interior design website and I am really chuffed with the result… Here is a snapshot of the homepage – doesn’t it look chic? I was tempted to use fuchsia pink again but my other half managed to convince me (and now I see he’s right!) that a more neutral colour palette would be more appropriate.
This is a project I’ve had on the back burner for over a year now, so I’m really excited (and stressed) to see how it goes… Interior Design By Mail is basically a mail order interior design service. Customers send us their decorating questions, problems or dilemmas and we send them our advice via mail. The concept behind this is that many people would love the input and recommendations of an interior designer, but either can’t afford it or just don’t want someone else messing about with their house!!
Our packages are priced from as low as £25 so hopefully we’ll be able to cater for all price brackets… Anyway, please check it out and send us your feedback!!!
P.S. The fantastic illustrations have been done by super talented, Paris- based Angeline Melin.

The delights of Marrakech- Le Palais Rhoul
We love the Moroccan look here a Coco Målé. It is such a strong style, full of inspirational ideas- a theme which is very much on trend. Le Palais Rhoul is a luxury 5 star hotel in Marrakech which oozes quality and adds that special touch with its use of unique shapes and decor.

Space To Breathe
After studying Architecture, Kay Kollar chose to focus upon residential interior design. Looking at her creativeness in the images below, it isn’t hard to see why she has succeeded in her chosen career. The sense of space is clearly an important aspect for this particular project- the result is a relaxing modern living environment. The gentle colour pallet compliments this mood.
The stunning view of Los Angeles from the library window to me is an inspiration in itself. The minimalistic furniture was in danger of being ‘lost’ within such large rooms, however for me, the soft rugs bring the whole look together, suggesting comfort and warmth- a place in which I can certainly imagine living!
