The perfect mix of old and new

June 17th, 2011

I began with the intention of writing a blog on living room decor but this image deserves a post all of its own!  The high ceiling, old fireplace, beautiful large windows and pretty chandelier all scream ‘grandeur’, whilst the circular rug, colourful couch and quirky floor lamp add a modern twist.

I wonder if the feature wall surrounding the fireplace is made up of original tiles, or perhaps it is wallpaper?  The colour scheme has been carefully considered- notice how even the curtain lining has a hint of powder blue which ties-in with the rug and feature wall colour.

This room could quite easily look cold and uninviting but the vibrant colours and luxurious, textured fabrics makes it very inviting indeed!

Inspirational interiors: an amazing church conversion

I must admit I’m not the biggest fan of church conversions- it kind of freaks me out a little, the idea of living in a church!  But this conversion is the most amazing I’ve ever seen.  It looks fresh, modern and homely and there’s not an alter or a pew in sight.  The pictures just speak for themselves- absolutely stunning property…

Inspirational Interiors: the smallest of apartments

This modern Scandinavian home is just 42 square metres in size!  It’s amazing what can be achieved within such a small space.  What do you think about the curtain separating the bedroom from the rest of the apartment?  Quirky huh?!

I like how parts of the stonework have been left bare- the bricks look really modern against the white wall and provide an attractive backdrop for the flatscreen.

Simple and modern yet very homely-looking with the use of mood lighting, cushions and a snuggly throw

Keep areas uncluttered as much as possible by using clever storage solutions.  Mess will only make the place feel smaller!  How gorgeous are the perspex chairs??
