Living in the present

We’re always looking to the past for inspiration but what about the here and now?  Modern home accessories can be very striking, with their clean lines, bold colours and futuristic shapes.

I do love the uncluttered look but it’s just something I could never achieve unless I had oodles of storage space!

Block acylic lampshades, £40.85 each

Menu rubber vase, from £10.50

Define bread dipping tray, around £25

Block orbit aqua clock, £39

Umbra u-lock mirror, £11.23

I think this mirror is a great idea- my boyfriend is forever leaving his razors lying around!

Put your own stamp on it

In the right setting, there’s no denying that these Stamp Rugs look totally amazing!!  Of course, to have one of these, ideally you would have a modern home full of quirky home accessories.  Use one in the conventional way as a rug or pin one to the wall and display as funky artwork!

What do you think- are they a little too OTT?  At least it gives you the opportunity to put your own stamp on your home interior (sorry- couldn’t resist!)

Contact the seller for prices and to order- I have a feeling they’ll cost more than a stamp.

“Rug Maker has officially been granted a licence by Royal Mail to manufacture this exclusive Stamp Rug Collection which fully captures the iconic design of Machin’s Royal Mail Stamps”.

Sleek and Modern Apartment

I found this delightful modern NY apartment on the House Beautiful website, isn’t it gorgeous?  The decor just oozes luxury.

The colour palette has been kept neutral and the furniture is simple with clean lines.  Character has been added with carefully selected home accessoriesand the use of fresh flowers.  I like how the dining and lounge seating has been mixed and so doesn’t match- this suggests that the layout is not too serious and rigid and that the ambience is nice and homely.  You can have a beautiful, clean home without being to regimental!

Grey and orange- my favourite colours!

I just love this bathroom!  It’s very modern yet the tiles and accessories make it more personal and inviting.  Modern can often mean characterless but this bathroom is far from that.
