Uptown clients with downtown ideas

Wayne Nathan from Memphis and Carol Egan from Dublin are two talented New york interior designers who together make up NathanEgan.  The company was launched in 2000, inspiring ‘uptown clients with downtown ideas’ (according to W Magazine).

Their interior design style consists of a refined, eclectic mix of contemporary and classic furnishings.  I love the elegance and sophistication of the finished looks…

Simple but effective- this layout is ideal for the hallway or to fill a corner.

Not quite the sophisticated look but this dreamy wallpaper transports me to lands far away!

I’ve always had a soft spot for floor-to-ceiling wardrobes… just stunning!

Natural light creates the illusion of space.  This ceiling window is fabulous

Open plan rooms are so very modern and very now.  Of course, the sheer size of this home adds to the feeling of luxury and extravagance.  I’m not too sure if I would want an open kitchen though… what about the cooking smells seeping through the house?!

Less is definitely more in this room.  Keeping colours simple and neutral give a light and airy feel- a natual look similar to New England style.

Shop of the Week- Velvet Brown

Velvet Brown was established in 2007 by sisters Heather Harris and Hazel Ball, born out of ‘a passion for stylish and elegant home accessories’.

It’s special items such as these which turn your house into a home.  Their focus is country/New England style, which reminds me of our cottage we lived in when I was little.

My favourite is the earring stand- a must for all us ladies!

Fabulous French Furniture

One of my favourite homewear shops has got to be Maison in Richmond.  Every time I go in I feel I want to buy everything!  The French-style furniture is beautiful and of noticably high quality, whilst the accessories are so cute, especially the childrens’ range!

Much of the furniture is white wash and of a traditional style, therefore if you favour the Old England, shabby-chic or traditional French or English look, this company will be like a dream for you!

Enchanting New England

What best describes New England Style?  For me, it is all about being at one with nature and appreciating the beauty of outdoor life.  Cream, grey and white dominate the colour palette, with flashes of soft pastel colour. The finished look should be calm, warm and inviting.  I imagine fresh, wild flowers being on display, a mismatch of pretty antique ornaments, delicate china tea cups and crisp white linen.  Homemade jams line the kitchen cupboards, along with local fresh produce….

Coco Målé  has some fantastic inspirational pieces that are sure to give you the New England design bug!  Below are a few ideas…
