Embrace your imagination
You all know by now how I’d much rather buy from an independent designer as opposed to the often dull and ‘samey’ High Street when it comes to home accessories. And I’ve a feeling that most of you out there are the same! I know it can be hard to find these little companies but every so often you come across one, like SJGuest. I can’t imagine anything more satisfying or fulfilling than being able to make an sell your own designs, with no limits (well okay practicality and money are both factors but let’s not ruin the moment!…)

Design graduate Sarah Jane Guest creates unique home accessories with pretty, colourful prints. I particularly love the Frog and Clock stool!

Couture furniture
Jean Paul Gaultier and furniture brand Roche Bobois have joined forces to create a fantastic couture furniture collection and I am loving the sofa!
The collection includes a paravent bed, with an upholstered headboard and the Mah Jong modular sofa, upholstered by Jean Paul Gaultier and designed by Hans Hopfer.

The intricate prints and nautical vibes just scream Gaultier. Fun but classy, this collection suggests you love style but don’t take yourself too seriously. With so much going on it may be wise to keep the surrounding space simple and clean for maximum impact.
What do you think, is it just nice too look at but too much to live with?

Pip pip hurray!
Pip Studio is a quirky little Dutch company which I have fallen in love with! The home accessories are so colourful and pretty that you can’t help but love the whole range. Quite shabby chic too, don’t you think?

The person behind Pip is Dutch product designer Catharina, who has had the nickname Pip since childhood. What a talented lady!

Pip’s designs are inspired by ”every-day incidents that seem quite ordinary but when scrutinised more closely are, in fact, exceptionally beautiful”.

I, butterfly
I’m loving Japanese label Minä Perhonen for its quirkiness and kookiness. The design process, from sketching through to manufacture and textile design, results in a fabulously unique modern collection. Below are some of my favourites!
‘Minä’ means ‘I’ and ‘perhonen’, ‘butterfly’, with a wish to make many beautiful designs like those of butterflies’ wings…
