The dark side
When Monica Biering Hammer became single after separating from her boyfriend, she saw her new found freedom as an opportunity to decorate her Norwegian apartment exactly how she’d always wanted to- black.

Black decor sounds cold, lonely and characterless doesn’t it? However Monica’s apartment shows that this is not always the case.

Dark colours can tend to make a room look smaller- this home has high ceilings and large windows which all helps to keep the space light and airy. I just love the gorgeous sofa above. In fact, I love all of the furniture!!

Monica refurbished furniture inherited from her grandparents with paint and new upholstery. She has a love for all things vintage which have a soul and a history. The pink ottoman is a welcome burst of colour. Love it! Not so sure if I’d actually enjoy living there, though…
